Mixed Media Tulips

This is a little painting of tulips I did one evening. It is done on watercolor paper with a combination of watercolor, gesso and felt-tipped markers.

HOW TO PAINT IN MIXED MEDIA
I did a few sketches first and then washed in the background with blues, I was trying to keep the background busy. Then I used watercolor for the greens. The flower was done in a mix of gesso and Alizarin Crimson watercolor. I used a few touches of purple for the shadows. The last step was black gesso with a signature brush to give it the outline effect.

I admit it is a little mix of primitive and modern but I think it makes a nice picture.
